The only thing keeping gconf and gksu in the default Ubuntu MATE install is caja-gksu. (Well, except for gdebi but I just pinged ~mvo about that, see https://bugs.debian.org/822596 ) One interesting feature available in the gvfs used by Ubuntu 17.04 and - Debian Stretch is the admin:/// URI.
