root@xenial-nfs:~# dpkg -S /lib/modules/4.4.0-138-generic/kernel/fs/nfsd/nfsd.ko
linux-image-4.4.0-138-generic:
/lib/modules/4.4.0-138-generic/kernel/fs/nfsd/nfsd.ko
root@xenial-nfs:~#
maybe your running kernel has no nfsd module?
This xenial up-to-date vm I created for just this test is running:
root@xenial-nfs:~# uname -a
Linux xenial-nfs 4.4.0-138-generic #164-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 2 17:16:02 UTC 2018
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
