I am having the same issue, I downloaded the latest install (7.10) yesterday, and was playing around with the live cd for a few minutes (not using the keyboard yet, just the mouse). Then I tried to install, and that's when I noticed the keyboard was not working, I was able to crawl through using the character map. After it was installed I was able to use the keyboard to log in, but after 5-10 minutes it stopped working, the caps lock and the num lock would not respond. I am using a usb keyboard, with the latest updates for ubuntu.
I am new to linux/ubuntu, but I am quite computer literate so if some one could point me to instructions on how to gather logs and such I will be happy to post them.
