I notice that there has been no updates on this problem since
2007-10-09. I, too, am experiencing this bug. Very frustrating as I am
trying to get people to convert to Linux (k)ubuntu. I tell them that
Open Office works on their MS Office docs so they can convert. But now
this is a MAJOR stumbling block.

I am running Kubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) final release with all updates
applied. I have not tried the suggested solution of removing GTK because
some have said that doing so will affect Firefox and Thunderbird, both
of which I rely on heavily.

Is this problem still being worked on? or is there a sanctioned fix that
I can apply that is not being automatically sent to everyone?
