Seems unlikely that Ubuntu installation cause the problem in light of the fact
that Windows can
no longer see the device and you cant boot from it.
Advice
If you get into the BIOS and it does not discover the CD then the problem is
most likely the CD hardware, try another CD to see if it is discovered.
