Hi Lorenzo, thank you for taking the time opening this bug report.

1) If you plug the headphones in to the computers headphone out jack
rather than the monitor, does it have the issue as well?

2) Also, Have you tried any earlier 6.8 kernels which did not have this
issue, or did you upgrade straight from the 6.5 based kernel to the 6.8
kernel?

3) What happens if you boot the machine without the headphones plugged
in at all, and only plug them in after it boots? Is the level low and
distorted, or fine?

4) One other thing that might be very useful to try, is to print the
kernel messages out, and clear them, and then unplug the headphones, and
then plug them back in. and dump the kernel messages. This would be the
most useful test I think. The steps would be:

-----
sudo dmesg -c |tee messages-before-test.log
echo 7 | sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/printk
---unplug-headphones---
---wait-30-seconds---
---plug-head-phones-in---
sudo dmesg |tee messages-after-test.log

-----

This will print the kernel messages and clear the buffer, increase the kernel
logging level so more info is printed out, and then after unplugging and
plugging in the headphones will print out the kernel messages again.

The 30 second wait between unplugging and plugging is to help see any
differences in any kernel messages to keep things a little easier to
read.

If you can do that test, and attach the logs, that would help.

If you did it just on the 6.8 kernel that would be alright, but doing it
for both the working 6.5, and the failing 6.8 kernel would really really
really help and hopefully describe what is happening a bit. If there
isn't anything in the logs, then I will need to come up with another way
to watch the behaviour, but I'm hoping this will work.
