Looking further into this, it seems like the Grub EFI image in Ubuntu comes without LUKS2 modules baked in.
However this is a problem, because: - The calamares installer encrypts partition with LUKS2 - The calamares installer strongly suggests encrypting /boot when encrypting / I can think of two solutions here: - Ship ubuntu with a Grub EFI image that has LUKS2 support, or - Make calamares encrypt partitions with LUKS1 I think the former would make more sense. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2105924 Title: Kubuntu 25.04 beta: Installing with an encrypted root filesystem results in a non-booting system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/2105924/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
