How did you upgrade your kernel?

You don't have linux-image-generic installed which is the meta package
that keeps the kernel packages up-to-date. That's the package that
depends on module-extra:

$ apt depends linux-image-generic
linux-image-generic
  Depends: linux-image-6.8.0-57-generic
  Depends: linux-modules-extra-6.8.0-57-generic
  Depends: linux-firmware
  Depends: intel-microcode
  Depends: amd64-microcode
  Recommends: thermald

You should install linux-image-generic.
