I've used plenty of motherboards that had ALC codecs in them, and sounded the same on Windows and Linux. I'm guessing the sound quality is not as good because this laptop uses proprietary stuff like Dolby Atmos. You may have to play around with the Convolver in EasyEffects to get better quality.
