Yes I thought I should  have mentioned Dolby Atmos. Not sure that is
part of the problem though considering that I usually have the Dolby EQ
in Windows custom flat. I think it might have something to do with the
Cirrus Logic amplifier chip in the laptop after doing some reading.
There is a setting in alsamixer for "Bass Speaker" which cannot be
changed. Don't know if that's related to the quality but it might be.
