** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]

When a maximized window is dragged down from gnome-shell's top panel to
un-maximize it with touchscreen, it will freeze the whole window
manager: existing content will continue to animate, but input is
  unresponsive.
+
+ This bug only affects GNOME on X.org, so Ubuntu 25.10 and newer are
+ unaffected.

  [ Test plan ]

  1. Log into Ubuntu (on Xorg)
  2. Open any window
  3. Maximize it
  4. With a touchscreen, drag downwards from the top panel of gnome-shell
  5. Verify that the window was unmaximized
  6. Verify that the window follows the finger

  [ Regression test plan (x11) ]

  1. Log into Ubuntu (on Xorg)
  2. Open any window
  3. Maximize it
  4. With a touchscreen, drag downwards from the top panel of gnome-shell
  5. Verify that the window follows the finger
  6. Add a second finger on the window
  7. Verify that the second finger is ignored, and the drag continues normally

[ Regression test plan (wayland) ]

  1. Log into Ubuntu (on Wayland)
  2. Open any window
  4. With a touchscreen, drag the window aroud
  5. Verify that the window follows the finger
  6. Add a second finger on the window
  7. Verify that the second finger is ignored, and the drag continues normally
  8. Verify that GNOME Shell did not crash and log you out

[ Where problems could occur ]

The patch changes which inputs are accepted during a compositor-side
window drag. If too many, you may see other input interfering with the
drag operation. If a bug is introduced, in the worst case the compositor
may crash and log you out while dragging a window on Wayland.
