Ah yes, the verification end of things is very aggressive, and I do
think problematic. The reason for it is that the kernel is run on a
tight cadence that only gives 5-7 days for testing, if a patch isn't
verified by then it is dropped from the kernel so that only verified
fixes make it into the next release.

I think the dropping from the current kernel is fine, its the rest where
the bug will be closed that is a problem. My preference would be if, the
patch can't be verified in time that it is pushed to the next kernel
cycle instead of closing. This would give more time for verification.
