The problem is that the drive is formatted as NTFS, the proprietary filesystem 
Microsoft uses for Windows.
If you don't have any data on the drive, and you don't intend to use it with 
Windows, then you should reformat it to something Linux-friendly (like ext4 or 
btrfs).

If you have data on the drive, you may be able to mount it by clearing the 
"dirty" flag. Only do this if you're confident that the drive was unmounted 
cleanly the last time you used it (i.e. you didn't have a power outage or 
unplugged it without safe eject):
sudo ntfsfix -d /dev/sdb1
