Public bug reported:
Device: Acer Aspire Switch 12 S (SW7-272)
Codec: Realtek ALC255
Subsystem ID: 1025:1049
Kernel: 6.14.0-37-generic
Distribution: Linux Mint 22.2 (based on Ubuntu Noble)
PROBLEM:
Internal speakers produce no sound. Headphones work correctly through the 3.5mm
jack.
Speakers work in Windows on the same hardware.
Hardware volume buttons on the tablet also don't respond.
TESTED:
- Model fixups: alc255-acer, dell-headset-multi
- Codec GPIO enables (all combinations)
- COEF 0x0d speaker amp bits (0x6000)
- EAPD enables on all output pins
- Power management disabled
The speaker amplifier appears to require a platform GPIO or EC command
that Linux doesn't currently implement for this device.
