I can confirm this regression on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS using the HWE stack. Hardware: MSI laptop Intel Core i5-1235U (12th Gen Alder Lake) Secure Boot enabled
Problem: When running kernel 6.14.0-37-generic, the system instantly powers off (no reboot, no kernel panic) when operating on battery power. The shutdown is abrupt and requires reconnecting AC power before the system can be powered on again. This behavior is reproducible and occurs: Only on battery (never while on AC) During normal desktop usage Without any warning messages Regression confirmation: 6.14.0-37-generic → hard power-off on battery (broken) 6.8.0-41-generic → stable on battery 6.8.0-52-generic → stable on battery I am currently forcing the system to boot kernel 6.8.0-52 via GRUB as a workaround. Removing 6.14 is not practical due to dependency on linux-generic-hwe-24.04. This appears to be a power-management / ACPI regression affecting Alder Lake systems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2136113 Title: Suspend crash on battery To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-6.14/+bug/2136113/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
