Additional investigation shows ACPI firmware errors during
suspend/resume:

ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_TZ.ETMD], AE_NOT_FOUND
ACPI Error: Aborting method _OSC due to previous error

The crashes occur only on battery, often after suspend (lid close), and result
in a hard power-off requiring AC reconnect to restart. This strongly suggests a
firmware / ACPI / EC interaction issue rather than a kernel panic. Intel CSME
firmware has been updated (16.1.38.2676, status patched), but the problem
persists.

Split lock detection is present but set to warn to avoid fatal traps.
