Would it be possible for gnome to do the same as Windows must do in the case where it can't find a monitor, and use the other gnome utility to make a headless one? The code is all part of gnome already, but for my case, I want to be able to RDP into my existing session like "Remote Desktop" once I have connected to the VPN, which won't start if you try via RDP. My two PC's are on a KVM, but For a lot of reasons, it's easier to rdp into it in one window for simpler tasks and have access to both at once. Another one is if I walk away, and it screen blanks, or locks, which is mandatory, I can't RDP in, which makes the whole "remote desktop" tool rather pointless if you can only log in if the monitors are on and unlocked, which is seldom the case.
I can't actually see how "Remote Desktop" is useful at all this way. Remote login works great, but I can't be on the VPN that way, so I can't use it either way, and it's a blocker. I'm investigating VNC now to see if I can find one that works better than gnome-remote-desktop, and I'm looking at KDE and the other WMs to see if they handle RDP better. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2093273 Title: Disconnecting HDMI cable disconnects remote Desktop Sharing connection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2093273/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
