Dear Devs, Going to have to come clean here and admin some user error - although I do think this issue will trip up other folks who are new to Plasma 6.x...
It turned out I hadn't been paying close attention to: Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Window Management -> "Close Window or show Logout Option" I wasn't aware that the Kwin Script had created it... Simply ensuring the default "Alt+F4" shortcut was unticked under Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Window Management -> "Close Window" and ensuring that "Alt+F4" key binding was assigned to: Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Window Management -> "Close Window or show Logout Option" When ticking/enabling: Settings -> Window Management -> KWin Scripts -> "Alt-F4 Desktop" Makes the Kwin Script function as intended... I can see that in Plasma 6.5, the setting to configure the default "Alt+F4" close window shortcut has been moved to System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > KWin. IMHO, Plasma 6.5 having relocated the default Alt-F4 Close Window shortcut to Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts >KWin Scripts is a great improvement to have the option where it is likely to reside with any alternative KWin Script and reduce the duplication of settings living is disparate places... It was only because I have been distro-hopping lately (after a long haitus away from Ubuntu/Kubuntu) that I tried Bazzite 43 that the penny drop moment occurred... I hope I haven't wasted any Dev's time with all this but I do think it would be worth adding this to Kubuntu 26.04 Release Notes when it (hopefully soon) moves to Plasma 6.5+ And I would submit my 2c on why there is a compelling reason for the Devs to move to Plasma 6.5 as a minimum - The reduction in Settings duplication is real and greatly improves UX - and would have reduced a lot of friction for me coming onto the OS - Which is superb by the way and is far above half dozen popular distros I tried in terms of hardware/software compatibility and ease of use.
