I have run the following command on the external monitor screen. And
then, close and open the lid.

```sh
watch -n 1 cat /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID/state
```

The status changed between `open` and `closed` depending on the lid
state. So, the Linux kernel and ACPI driver seem to be OK.
