I think it's understandable that people were upset after this update left them without a functioning GUI. To me, the core problem is that there was no attempt to release an upgrade that could maybe work for everyone involved. Transitioning to Nouveau might have been okay even if it broke for some people. Transitioning to a newer proprietary driver which doesn't support some hardware is not okay. That could still be a mistake, but I think it was at least careless. After that, marking it as "Won't Fix" was outrageous.
It is time to look at the process to make sure this doesn't happen again. I'm not going to say "look at the people" because directing the blame at individuals is probably bad. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2155202 Title: Latest Update Breaks Systems Using Nvidia 470 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-470/+bug/2155202/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
