Another data point from our fleet: a desktop with a discrete card is affected too, not only laptops.
- ASUS board, AMD Athlon CPU, Sapphire Radeon RX 6650 XT (Navi 23, RDNA2), amdgpu - Kernel 7.0.0-30-generic. The machine still fails to power off, so -30 does not fix this, which matches the report from earlier today. - Two displays attached: one directly on HDMI, one through an active DP-to-HDMI adapter. Both sinks are HDMI, so this is consistent with the title rather than an exception to it. - A second machine here: Lenovo 21X0001NGE laptop on 7.0.0-29-generic, same symptom - screen goes dark, the power LED stays on, only a long press on the power button ends it. - 7.0.0-27-generic shuts down cleanly on that laptop, confirmed by a colleague. The interesting part is the form factor: a desktop with a discrete Navi 23 card and two HDMI sinks behaves exactly like the affected laptops, so laptop-specific panel handling is unlikely to be the trigger. We are happy to test a -proposed kernel with the fix on both machines, one Navi 23 desktop and one laptop iGPU. Just say when it is available. If it helps, we can try to reproduce with a single display attached, or with none - tell us which variant would be most useful and we will report back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2163121 Title: [Regression] Laptop fails to power off completely when HDMI is connected in kernel 7.0.0-28 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2163121/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
