No longer reproducible on linux-hwe-7.0 7.0.0-34.34~24.04.1.

Original report (7.0.0-28): kernel WARN "Unpatched return thunk" when the nvidia
module was loaded with mitigations=off.

Current state on the same machine - ASUS N580GD, GTX 1050 with nvidia-driver-580
(580.178.04, DKMS built for 7.0.0-34), Kubuntu 24.04.5:

  /proc/cmdline contains mitigations=off
  lsmod shows nvidia, nvidia_modeset, nvidia_drm, nvidia_uvm all loaded
  dmesg contains no "return thunk" line, no BUG: and no Call Trace. The only
  WARNING-level lines are unrelated: an ACPI \_SB.IETM._TRT empty-package
warning
  and a kded5 wireless-extensions deprecation notice.

I did not bisect what fixed it - it may be the kernel side or the 580 driver.
Please close as fixed or invalid as you see fit; I have no way to reproduce it
any more and will not be booting 7.0.0-28 again.

** Changed in: linux-hwe-7.0 (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Fix Released
