https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2161309
Confirmed fixed on this hardware with linux-hwe-7.0 7.0.0-34.34~24.04.1
from noble-updates.
Hardware: ASUS N580GD (X580GD), i7-8750H, Intel UHD 630 (eDP panel) + GTX 1050
with
nvidia-driver-580, Kubuntu 24.04.5, mitigations=off.
Before (7.0.0-28): writes to /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
were
accepted and actual_brightness tracked them, but the panel did not physically
change.
Now (7.0.0-34): brightness changes physically, both from the KDE slider and
from a
direct write to intel_backlight. No i915/drm errors in dmesg.
I had stayed on 6.17.0-42 since July and moved to 7.0.0-34 on 2026-09-25.
This report can be closed as fixed as far as this machine is concerned.
** Changed in: linux-hwe-7.0 (Ubuntu)
