** Description changed: [ Impact ] Any element that tries to format and display a specific time in HH:MM format inside the calendar tray widgets (World Clocks, Calendar events "from-to" times, and hourly Weather forecasts) fails to render. Instead of the formatted time, the single digit "1" is displayed. This is due to malformed datetime format-strings in the German language- pack for gnome-shell. [ Test Plan ] 0. Configure Ubuntu Desktop with the German language 1. Ensure that Settings > Date & Time > Time Format is set to 24-hour 2. Set up a calendar event for today 3. Open the notifications/calendar tray 4. Verify that the calendar event is listed with the start and end times readable 5. Verify that other text is shown in the German language [ Where problems could occur ] GNOME Shell provides the UI components for Ubuntu Desktop The language-pack-gnome-de update starts installing gnome-shell.mo, replacing the same file path previously provided by language-pack-gnome-de-base. - The only changes to its source gnome-shell.po file are 4 strings, 3 directly exported from launchpad, and 1 proposed but not yet accepted in launchpad. + The only changes to its source gnome-shell.po file are 3 strings directly exported from launchpad. - An automated language-pack re-generation could re-introduce some - malformed format-strings if the change is not accepted into launchpad in - time. - - Other problems could manifest with non translated strings in the desktop - UI itself (not affecting individual apps) + Problems would manifest with non translated strings in the desktop UI + itself (not affecting individual apps)
