Public bug reported:

Hi,

when running

nmcli connection show "name"

where name is the connection of a configured wireguard vpn connection,
nmcli should, and on non-Ubuntu systems (e.g. Fedora) actually does show
the peers as an entry under entry wireguard.peers

On Ubuntu (and Kubuntu), it doesn't.

Even

nmcli -s -f wireguard.peers connection show "name"

fails with Error: 'connection show': invalid field 'wireguard.peers';
allowed fields: wireguard.private-key,wireguard.private-key-
flags,wireguard.listen-port,wireguard.fwmark,wireguard.peer-
routes,wireguard.mtu,wireguard.ip4-auto-default-
route,wireguard.ip6-auto-default-route

It's probably a matter of Ubuntu's netplan integration.

Background: I'm configuring several desktop machines with puppet, and try to
cope with the fact, that Ubuntu=Gnome and Kubuntu=KDE do store the secrets (=
private key, and shared key with each peer) differently by default. While
Kubuntu does store secrets for non-public connections in the user's keyring and
thus does not change the netplan file when the key is entered, Ubuntu stores
them in the netplan file and configures user permissions. This problem should
be solved by setting the key-flags to 1=agent-owned with nmcli or in the
netplan file, and then use nmcli instead of the Ubuntu graphical configuration
to set the shared key, but
