Yeap, checked your build log. You're right about the flags - the template patch was from when I was only stripping v3. With -march=x86-64 explicitly appended in comment #11, bvh.cpp doesn't see __AVX__ anyway, so upstream instantiates BVH4 on its own.
Drop the patch and keep only the debian/rules changes for Debian, that's cleaner. Then Ubuntu can sync it back and drop the delta. P.S.
