Public bug reported: nethogs 0.9.0-1 fails to build from source in stonking.
Regressing architectures (built before, fail now): amd64, amd64v3, arm64, armhf, ppc64el, riscv64, s390x. Build logs: - amd64: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nethogs/0.9.0-1/+build/33470127/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-stonking-amd64.nethogs_0.9.0-1_BUILDING.txt.gz - amd64v3: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nethogs/0.9.0-1/+build/33470128/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-stonking-amd64v3.nethogs_0.9.0-1_BUILDING.txt.gz - arm64: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nethogs/0.9.0-1/+build/33470129/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-stonking-arm64.nethogs_0.9.0-1_BUILDING.txt.gz - armhf: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nethogs/0.9.0-1/+build/33470130/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-stonking-armhf.nethogs_0.9.0-1_BUILDING.txt.gz - ppc64el: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nethogs/0.9.0-1/+build/33470131/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-stonking-ppc64el.nethogs_0.9.0-1_BUILDING.txt.gz - riscv64: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nethogs/0.9.0-1/+build/33470132/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-stonking-riscv64.nethogs_0.9.0-1_BUILDING.txt.gz - s390x: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nethogs/0.9.0-1/+build/33470133/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-stonking-s390x.nethogs_0.9.0-1_BUILDING.txt.gz Diagnosis (deterministic matcher): dpkg-gensymbols-mismatch — "dpkg-gensymbols: error: some symbols or patterns disappeared in the symbols file: see diff output below", followed by "dh_makeshlibs: error: failing due to earlier errors". Root cause: debian/libnethogs0.symbols lists symbols that the stonking toolchain no longer emits. They are compiler-generated C++ template instantiations and inline destructors (std::map/set/list/vector destructors, std::_Rb_tree helpers, std::ctype<char>::do_widen, std::piecewise_construct, PackListNode::~PackListNode()). None of them are part of libnethogs's real ABI. riscv64 fails with the same error. The same 0.9.0-1 builds fine on Debian's buildds, so the failure comes from the newer Ubuntu toolchain. Suggested fix: mark these compiler-generated std:: template and inline destructor symbols (and PackListNode::~PackListNode()) as (optional) in debian/libnethogs0.symbols, or drop them. Forward the change to Debian (src:nethogs), because newer GCC there will hit the same problem. No existing Ubuntu or Debian bug covers this. ** Affects: nethogs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ftbfs stonking update-excuse ** Tags added: ftbfs stonking update-excuse -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2168992 Title: nethogs 0.9.0-1 FTBFS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nethogs/+bug/2168992/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
