Public bug reported: Rust 1.99.1 was released on 15 October, 2026. A great deal of packages in the Ubuntu archive rely on Rust to build properly, and as time passes, the minimal supported Rust version (MSRV) of crucial Rust-based packages increases.
Rust 1.99 stabilizes several new APIs and language features. See releases.rs [1] for a full changelog. In the 27.04 Roadmap, the target Rust version is 1.102, so the inclusion of `rustc-1.99` in the archive brings us one step closer to our goal.
