I have reported a very similar issue on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS in bug #2170511, with detailed hardware/software configuration and reproduction observations.
My system uses Intel UHD Graphics 770 (i915), Mutter 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.18, and two DisplayPort monitors. When unattended, one connector generates HOTPLUG=1 events every ~9.44 seconds, while ShmemHugePages grows in 44 MiB steps. Restarting the GDM greeter releases the accumulated memory. Powering off the affected monitor stops the hotplug events and memory growth. This was verified over several hours with my GDM restart watchdog disabled. I have not tested the proposed Mutter backport, but the symptoms seem closely related. Adding this cross-reference in case it helps with the Ubuntu 24.04 fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2143073 Title: [i915] ShmemHugePages leak during GNOME lock screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/2143073/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
