Thomas, This is interesting, in fact I have doubts that the video driver has anything to do with it since the screen is dimmed in the BIOS Configuration screen as well. This machine in particular is acting differently than other using the intel driver. Can you make sure this is not something wrong with one of the previous BIOS updates because it did not start until I made the latest BIOS update. At the same time, it may have started when I installed Hardy, but I'm sure that since it does the same thing with no hard drive in the machine so I seriously doubt this has to to with the installer (I'm taking it you mean the debian installer for the Ubuntu operating system). This happens after the installation has completed as well. It happens all the time. I'm not quite sure what brought it on, but I can tell you that I very much doubt that it's software related.
