Interesting.... The wheel on the mouse with the Wacom tablet causes the
desktop to shift left/right. Scroll the wheel and the desktop shifts.

Anyway, here's the results of the latest. Powered up again - still have not
applied updates.
Installed openssh-server (via apt-get). System's name is Raven

Pre-freeze:
Caps-lock works.
Responds to a ping.
Can connect to Raven via ssh from another system. In ssh on another system, I
started `tail -f -n10 /var/log/messages` and left it running.

Let it sit with the Wacom tablet connected. It took just over two hours for
the freeze to occur.
Post-freeze:
Caps-lock DOES NOT work.
DOES NOT respond to a ping.
The terminal running the ssh connection to Raven DOES NOT respond.
In addition, there were no additional messages in /var/log/messages except for
--MARK--'s that appeared on the ssh-connected machine. These are the same
--MARK's-- on the terminal I opened on Raven's desktop with the `tail -f
/var/log/message` - nothing additional.

I guess this means it's a kernel problem (not hardware I suppose since
this doesn't occur in Gutsy).

I'm not going to try the null-modem cable unless you think it might be
useful. Let me know.

I'm going to apply the updates - new kernel and all - and try again.
