Hi, Paul.

Thanks for your time. But although they seem alike, these bugs are
different.

Beforehand, let me try to put things clear.

I have a dual boot desktop that allows me to read/write my SD card in 2
ways:

a) using a dedicated card reader; and

b) using the Palm Tx. Palm LifeDrife has some programs that allows this
device to be turned into a card reader. I copied these 3 files to my Tx, so
my Tx can work as a card reader. It works perfectly when connected to my Tx,
whether my desktop is running XP or Ubuntu. It's the equivalent of the
software CardReader.

1) The older bug (palm not mounting SD card anymore)

I tried to connect to my desktop using Palm Tx as a card reader. It usually
worked. But, after updating my Ubuntu 8.04, it stopped mounting my SD card.

What happened for occurring this bug? An system update.

Pay attention: I didn't format my SD card. After an update, it ceased
mounting my SD card through my Palm Tx device.

If I'd want to use the SD card, I had to insert this card in my dedicated
card reader. Notice: my dedicated card reader never stopped working.

Two weeks after reporting this bug, after an update, I was able again to use
my Palm Tx as a card reader.

2) The newer bug (SD card formatted by Palm device does not mount
automatically)

Everything was working fine, until I decided to format my SD card using Palm
Tx.

>From this moment on, neither my Palm Tx nor my dedicated card reader could
mount automatically this SD card.

Ubuntu does recognize this card, because running sudo fdisk -l lists this
SD card, but Ubuntu doesn't mount it automatically. XP does.

If I use the mount command, it mounts this SD card.

So, I decided to use another SD card in my desktop running Ubuntu. It was
mounted automatically.

I inserted back the Palm formatted SD card. It was not mounted
automatically.

I inserted the other SD card (formatted by my Canon camera). It was mounted
automatically.

Conclusion: Ubuntu doesn't mount automatically a SD card formatted by
Palm

What happened for occurring this bug? Formatting a SD card using Palm
Tx.

So it proves that these bugs aren't the same.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,
  Adilson
