I also agree that the notice should not have a close button. What would
be nice though is a text link at the bottom (smaller than the main
notice and with less contrast), saying 'Do not tell again about this
update.' If you click that link, your wish would be honoured even after
a reboot, at least until there is a new update available.
Rounder corners would be nice and it would be good to move the whole
notice down a few pixels so that you can see some space between it and
the taskbar. ATM the gray-on-gray looks untidy.
