regarding the drop privilege: https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/apt/+bug/1522675 and there is also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1651923 which is related to apt-helper based downloads ... and which additionally points to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1657567 which is sourceforge specific ... quite a papertrail already :) ciao oli
