Not sure about wubi installer, never used it. The only thing i can suggest
right now is that you make yourself a bootable usb stick with ubuntu eee (from
within windblows with unetbootin.

make sure you use the ubuntu eee 8.04.1 iso.
Once booted (press esc during post, make sure that the eee is not set to fast
boot) plug in your wired eth cable and you should have wired. Add the repos
from array.org and follow their simple instructions (make sure you follow the
process for hardy and not interpid)
I have not been able to make a bootable usb stick with anything else but the
windows version of unetbootin, so do follow that route. Oh by the way, what
model eee do you have?
