When it says IO error, it means there is some problem reading the data file in CD, maybe CD problem,, or maybe CDROM But if u say DVD plays fine (In Linux), then i cannt suggest any thing. Well, instead if VCD:///media/recorder just use /media/recorder/path/to/file.dat and see it it handles...
