Hi,

I see your point like:

Are you aware of FLOSS? You use it when you:

* use the internet (remember all those DNS servers, all those
gateways, all those web/mail/chat/database servers?)
* do Google (as in search, chat, send email) or even Yahoo, Amazon
* you call (with Android, ekiga or other SIP based clients, a Qtopia
phone, soon probably even Nokia phones)
* browse the web (everybody uses firefox right?)
* use your gps (at least the garmin ones do...)
* use your MID or NetBook
* use your office programs (openoffice, sun staroffice, ibm symphony,
koffice, abiword)

And it is all good. right?

So why not use it on your desktop?

I believe Nokia's embracement of FLOSS (maemo, buying of trolltech,
their openness/human strategy) is more relevant to the worldwide
mobile marketshare for FLOSS than any shiny iphone or even android as
a platform adopted by a minor market share mobile company gang.

Your point lies, as it should, in that your OS is less and less
important everyday as long as your web apps work and let you do your
work. So why not go FLOSS all the way, right?

To round up: Software is like sex: It's better when it's free ;)

Isn't Linus right when it comes to this too?

R
