None of this is true. The mini.iso is built from the debian-installer source package, but that has nothing to do with importing from Debian, except for the name. We upload it regularly in Ubuntu, and carry a massive local delta for it. The one that's currently in -proposed was uploaded by me earlier today. They're not built daily, they're built every time we upload d-i, which is fairly often (whenever kernel ABIs change, or when we change other d-i components, etc). ...
