So what's up with this Curucú (Remote scopes server)? It is without
doubt the
worst file I've ever seen land in l10n. The first 20 or so strings are
fine but
then it is one long list of
academicAdvisor
aircraftAttack
aircraftHelicopterMultiroleand so on
So they all have comments but that just makes the whole thing even more
bizarre
because they're all like this:
translate it to a normal title, as if this were 'Academic Advisor'
translate it to a normal title, as if this were 'Aircraft Attack'
translate it to a normal title, as if this were 'Aircraft Helicopter
Multirole'
Why? I mean, if these are the strings as they will land in en-US, I pity
en-US
users. Second, the comments are hardly helpful. An 'Aircraft attack' is
something else than an 'aircraft that is for attacking.
Then there are lots of strings which on their own, given how strange a
list it
is, are impossible to translate:
blockAlloy - is this a block made of an alloy or some strange kind of
alloy?
bodyDiscovered - is this a dead body or body of a document?
border - of a document or a country?
branchFrom - I can't even begin to guess
ceremonialCounty - no idea
chairLabel - is this a label for seating people at chairs or a label for
a
chairman?
chain - of shops or the kind Caspar throws around?
So sometimes you get very strange lists of things, I get that. But in
that case,
they need really good comments otherwise translators who aren't that
bothered
will just guess or there will be lots of frustrated translators asking
the same
questions all over?
Anyone know where this file is from and what it's supposed to do? It
doesn't
seem to handle it's Questions or Bugs via Launchpad.

Hi,
Guessing from the home page, it is purely proprietary project [1] so we
will not see its code to guess.
The only known way to decide the purpose of this software (?) is IRC
#ubuntu-app-devel . The only thing is known that it is a part of Ubuntu
One. It is hard to say who is in need for such weird strings to be
translated.
Personally, I'm tired of guessing and will leave such things untranslated.
From Ubuntu history, the translation can be waste of time anyway.
Best regards,
Yuri
