Question #76269 on Ubuntu changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/76269
Andre Mangan proposed the following answer: You cannot upgrade from 8.04 to 9.04 without an intermediate upgrade to 8.10 first, as correctly stated by Alexei. The problem with doing two sequential upgrades is that errors can creep in which are difficult to diagnose and fix. These errors can be caused by something as simple as a brief interruption to data transfer. A better solution (if you feel compelled to upgrade) is to overwrite your present installation with a netbook edition of Ubuntu 9.04 but if you do that, no doubt you will want to upgrade again in October when the next version of Ubuntu is due for release. Yes, your software sources are different since you are not using the standard Ubuntu installation but rather a specially adapted netbook edition. Ubuntu 8.04 is supported (on the desktop) until April, 2011 and will continue to function well beyond that date. -- You received this question notification because you are a member of UF Unanswered Posts Team, which is an answer contact for Ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuforums-unanswered Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuforums-unanswered More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
