vijay is still having a problem:
in terminal i typed as follows
cd /boot/grub (and enter key is pressed)
el...@elcot-laptop:/boot/grub$
and typed ls it shows
default,installed-version,minix_stage1_5,xfs_stage1_5,
device.map,jfs_stage1_5, reiserfs_stage1_5,
e2fs_stage1_5, menu.lst(in green background),stage1
fat_stage1_5,menu.lst~(in green background),stage2
el...@elcot-laptop:/boot/grub$
and then typed sudo cp menu.lst.080709
[sudo]password for elcot:(password is given here)and shows
cp:missing destination file operand after 'menu.lst.080709
try 'cp --help' for more info

i close the terminal
then what i can do now
