Tom proposed the following answer: I think recovery mode is difficult to access on a Dell Mini9 so after doing my "sudo dpkg --configure - a" then Vihar's answer would probably be best :) If space is a serious issue then try emptying the waste-bin and open the emailer and clear that one's waste bin too - hopefully then my answer will work but you might need to try Vihar's way before mine will work. Just try one way and then another until something works is often the best way to solve this.
