You can install a bunch of different file types. However, your best off installing Debian *Packages*. The file extension for a debian/ubuntu package is *.deb. You should most all you need in Add/Remove or Synaptic Package Manager, and you should need to install files manually; windows and mac do not have a package manager, so the require you to install manually. If you have a .deb file, you can dbl-click to install. Other types, like .bin or .sh scripts can be a little harder... For the most part, though, you should stick to using a package manager. It will automatically download the right files, and then install them for you. -- Christopher Stamper Email: [email protected] Web: http://tinyurl.com/2ooncg gTalk: http://tinyurl.com/6e359r Skype: cdstamper --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ubuntu Linux" group.
