Ok  try
System/Administration/Synaptic package Manager

Search for the application you want to install.

click on the little box to the left of the name

Select mark for installation

then in the top menu click on apply

Then on the popup box click on apply.

Then tell us what error you get.

Please don't just say 'It would not install'
