IIRC, you said you don't have an internet connection. So you may as well
forget about add/remove; it won't do you any good, except to remove...

Give us some more information. WHAT are you trying to install? Or at least,
what is the file extension? .deb?

Why doesn't double-clicking on it work? Do you get a message about
dependancies? Or does the computer suddenly go black and shut off? ;-)

Seriously, we're willing to help. Make it a little easier for us, and you'd
get answers faster.
