I would say this is not a problem anymore and you can close the bug. But I have to say that I stop using scribus from ubuntu repositories long time ago because of this problem and because the package was and still is outdated.
So instead, I have used an up-to-date package from the repository above http://debian.scribus.net/debian/ (scribus 1.4.3), and currently use it from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuhandbook1/+archive/ubuntu/ppa (scribus 1.4.4) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Studio Bugs, which is subscribed to scribus in Ubuntu.
