I'm constantly trying to identify obvious 'warning signs' that will
help me avoid spending my time and money where they will most likely
not pay off. This is a hobby after all (i.e., completely
discretionary), and I want it to be 100% good all the time.

I don't really have any doubt that boardgaming is a good hobby for me.
But I am sorta finding myself lately in the frame of mind to call most
euros "cookie-cutter" (especially worker placement and auction
mechanisms). I find myself almost always wanting a 120+ minute game.
Sometimes a 45- minute game. Almost never a 60-75 minute game.
