Well, for me a good "warning signs" is after looking at the attractive, interesting and gorgeous box art and theme, I turn the box around and look at the back of the box and see the game pieces and board and if it look kind of abstract to me, I will think to my self - "Not another theme thin Euro with similar mechanic". Then turn back the box and put it back on the shelf :)
To tell the truth, this is what I do lately, I went to BGR opening days and browse around the store and see all those interesting and new stuffs and then find myself un-interested in any of the new games again... Unless some buddy like Mark T or Matthew tell me they are good, I will not lay eyes on them any more :) As you say before, want to be 100% good all the time, why waste time and money on things that did not pay off :) Think I will stick more to the good oldies, the ameritrash or my favorate, wargames :) BTW, why 45 minute game and not 60-75 minute? It is only 15 to 30 minutes longer ? --- Ken --- On Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 2:50 PM, Ran <[email protected]> wrote: > > :-) > > I'm constantly trying to identify obvious 'warning signs' that will > help me avoid spending my time and money where they will most likely > not pay off.
