One of the things I learned the hard way is that the thicker "higer quality"
sleeves are actually worse in almost every aspect. The thicker material
stacks poorly and the corners have a tendecy to stab you reapetedly in the
hands :-S
Also the cheaper card games (even games like race for the galaxy) aren't
worth sleeving... far easier to just give them away and buy a new copy if
they ever show much wear.
I like the mayfair sleeves due to their many sizes (getting the right sized
sleeves makes a huge difference)

I have never really had an issue with shuffling with sleeved cards, like
Casey does I pretty much just push the two halves together and they
interfold quite nicely. There are certainly some sleeves that will
significantly increase the height of your deck and I use those for some of
my favorite games, but the low quality ones are quite thin. Of course you
replace them a bit more often too.
