So I downloaded the rules and perused them having now played the game
once. In the end I would have lost two points in the game because of
the "Nay" rule we got incorrect. Here is how it should have worked:

First you look at the winning side (be it Nay or Yea) and then you
compare symbols to the article. If they match you get two points
(which would never be the case on the "Nay" side since a delegate that
supports the Faction on the article can't be placed on the "Nay"
side).

AFTER points are counted THEN you flip the article...

HOWEVER - in the case of the event card last night it DID flip the
article AHEAD of time so due to this fact those that had voted Nay
WOULD get the 2 points per delegate on the Nay side.

Thus in my case I had gotten 8 points total but it would now be
altered as:

4 points for the Nay side during the "Mirror, Mirror" event (you have
to be a trekkie to get that)
2 points instead of 4 during the last round in which I had Nay voters
that won.

I can't remember if I was only one point ahead of somone or not.

** Also my review of the rules indicated that you MAY pick up your
Planner if they show and that it is NOT a requirement that you do so.
So I could have used that event to trigger the other players planner
in the discard pile to get more influence.
